I never cease to be amazed at the number of godly (and intelligent!) hymnwriters there were in the 19th century who seem never to have had any contact with brethren. I am not, of course, referring to the giants of previous centuries like C. Wesley. Do you have a copy of Frank Wallace’s Spiritual Songsters available from Chapter Two? Mrs Cousin is probably best known for her versification of Rutherford’s Immanuel’s Land
